STORY: Bakasana

I am loving all of the classes I have been taking over at Yoga Works. One of my favorite classes has GOT to be the Vinyasa Flow class that my sister and I take every Sunday. I love the challenge and the work out is great! I leave class every week sweaty yet stronger and more relaxed.

I would have to say that one of the most attractive things about yoga to me has to be the feeling I have after every class. My mind feel open and relaxed, my body feels stretched and happy.

This past Sunday we had a really good Vinyasa Flow session. We got to try out a yoga position that I had always been afraid of attempting: Bakasana a.k.a Crow Pose.

BAKASANA

It was very helpful that my teacher was very thorough on explaining how to get to this position. we started preparing ourselves by working on Chaturanga and making sure we had the correct form. What really made everything click before trying out the pose myself was how my teacher explained that you shouldn't go ahead and place all of your weight on your arms nor put your hips straight up into the air, you need to make yourself as compact as possible, and only then can you lift up with much more ease by slowly leaning forward and finding the balance.

Anatomical Focus

  • Wrists

Benefits

  • Strengthens arms and wrists
  • Stretches the upper back
  • Strengthens the abdominal muscles
  • Opens the groins
  • Tones the abdominal organs

CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT NEW YOGA POSE I'LL GET TO TRY NEXT WEEK! STAY TUNED!!
